Beware of fraudulent domain renewal requests!

Beware of fraudulent domain renewal requests. There is a scam currently going on regarding renewals of domains. Disregard any e-mails received from "Domain Registry of America" or other bogus companies prompting you to renew your domain and/or provide information. Many fraudulent organizations will use your information to transfer the domain away from your current registrar (incurring a substantially higher yearly charge just to keep the domain).

If you have recently received an "official looking" letter from the "Domain Registry of America" "Domain Registry of Canada" or "Domain Registry of Europe" saying that your domain is about to expire and asking you to renew it with them, please IGNORE IT. You do not need to make any payment to this company in order to maintain your domain registration. If you have already made a payment I would strongly recommend to contact your credit card company or bank to stop or reverse the payment.
